This is a great place to live. Sacramento doesn't always get the glory it's due. There's a lot of cool stuff here.
Now for a few good reasons to live in Sacramento in February:
1. Free Museum Day: February 5th, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., all over Sacramento
Yep, it's a good name for a day when all the museums are free, including the zoo!
"Twenty-six (26) greater Sacramento area museums will be offering free admission for the 13th Annual Sacramento Museum Day. All participating museums close at 5 p.m. with the last guests admitted at 4 p.m. Museum Day, a Sacramento cultural tradition, invites all members of the community to experience the Capital City’s incredible wealth of art, history, science and wildlife at numerous participating museums AT NO COST."
PARTICIPATING MUSEUMS for SACRAMENTO MUSEUM DAY 2011:
Aerospace Museum of California
California Automobile Museum
California Foundry History Museum
The California Museum
California State Military Museum
California State Capitol Museum
California State Indian Museum
California State Railroad Museum

Discovery Museum Science and Space Center
The Don and June Salvatori California Pharmacy Museum

Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park
Wells Fargo History Museum (Old Sacramento and Downtown locations).
So our plan is riding our bikes over to Old Sacramento, hitting up the Railroad Museum (we've still never been) and any other sites in the old city, then if we have time and energy checking out the Aerospace Museum. Fun, Fun, Fun!
2. Sacramento Fashion Week: Feb 24-27 - Elks Tower Ballroom (921 11th Street)
Emerging student designers and established designers from the Sacramento region strut their stuff over the course of two shows, a launch party and a forum. Tickets range from $35-125 and proceeds go to Make a Wish Foundation.
Faatui Toele is an emerging designer showing and the beautiful creature next to him is wearing his work. She said she feels like Barbie in his designs and likes it that way.
3. Beer Week: Feb 25th - March 6th, all over Sacramento
We like our fashion OK in Sacramento, but we really like our beer. Over 200 events make up Sacramento beer week, with endless happy hours, tastings, and pint-nights. There's even a pre-beer week brewers showcase at the Crocker Museum of Art. The whole thing culminate with the Capital Beerfest at Cal Expo, $30 general admission with free shuttles from Midtown.
