Garden planning and beneficial bugs

Today we went to one of my favorite places, Capital Nursery.

Before we left I sat down with the UC Davis vegetable gardening guide for the Sacramento area and planned my crops for the next 12 months.

I then rendered a drawing of my garden in google docs and planned where the crops will go, I made a spreadsheet.

So, armed with the power of planning we journeyed to Capital Nursery and purchased artichoke and chard starts, various seeds, used containers, a hose splitter, and about 1,500 lady bugs!

I found aphids on one of my zucchini plants and decided to fight back with the mighty little ladybugs.

Check out more pictures of our blooming garden here.

Love the plans Melody!! Smart idea to get the lady bugs, they are so helpful! I can't wait to see your garden in bloom. :)
